A bionic knee integrated into tissue can restore natural movement

I've always wondered how the interface between the titanium(or whatever the material is that connects to the bone and passes through the epidermis) post and the skin is done. How can that be made "air tight"? Does the skin bond to the post?

Thats my understanding- that specially surfaced titanium will bond to skin.

But its still a huge issue long term

I hope it makes this sounds every time you move your leg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-G0SVEQW8A

My friend had a total knee replacement in December of 2023. Works fine but it makes a clicking sound with every step which his surgeon says is something that sometimes happens and after this much time is permanent.

Funny, but not exactly accurate :)
