Why was tupac's comment flagged, it was genuinely funny and also something worthy of discussion. What if big tech are the next nuclear superpowers? Thats a talking point. Censorship on HN seems a little out of control. Then I remind myself its just a forum for a VC company in N America and it all seems to make sense.

It's likely the phrasing more than the idea. If you want to raise controversial talking points, predictable quips like that ain't the format for it.

It's not a substantive talking point, and this forum should encourage reasonable conversations not politically-hued science fiction; a Microsoft refining and enriching fissile material to weapons-grade would be one thing in and of itself.
Let's imagine, for your sake, if Elon, Bezos, Gates and Zuck, hell, maybe Branson - they all had a handful of bespoke nukes. Starship becomes Startshit, or whatever clever branding the tech bros come up for their "private enterprise physical defense AI-driven atomic-oriented energy constraint circumvention systems" that can guarantee corporate continuation in the event of micro-scale nuclear warfare.
(this is literally the plot to Fallout, IIRC).
so okay, now they're "superpowers," somehow, in this fictional world where the instant any of these organizations begin the path to centrifugal enrichment toward weapons-grade material, the IAEA and the DOE and nine thousand other detection agencies are just going to allow it?
HN used to be a bastion, the place you'd lurk because you'd only keep learning. Network effect + time just middles the Bell.
So no, there's no need for some "censorship" when the masses can recognize and downvote stupidity. The system is working.
Not bug, feature.

That dystopian future was supposed to be way way way in the future... not here right now :/

Hartmut Rosa coined the term and theory of social acceleration.
You've heard of accelerationism, the political idea that people should make the rate of change of society go as fast as possible. Social acceleration, if you take away the jargon around it and its causes, is the sociological theory that this is already happening uncontrollably, regardless of what direction people would like to steer things in.

Ah, the IDF (or to use your own word: Jews), the righteous and moral people, who don't see the issue with dropping bombs on babies or starving them, because their enemy "started it".
What a great world to live in, if everyone behaved as morally as these IDF warmongers.
And I'd wager Israel would not stop inventing "terrorists" to kill even if Hamas surrenders.. if only it's a video game where we can save, see what happens with scenario A, and reload to the point where scenario A hasn't killed a few more tens of thousands of innocents as casually as in a relative clause of a sentence...
I want to find the article where a whistleblower said they'd lower the "threat rating" day by day depending on how many Palestinians they want to kill that day, but "IDF whistleblower" gives too many results...
But anyway, you won't be convinced, you've chosen your stance, and to change it means to admit you've been defending war crimes and genocide, and you'd rather construct your own complex reality (with all sorts of biases like confirmation bias) where you're right and I'm wrong, as long as it means you can convince yourself you remain a good and moral person...

No one is saying this is a genocide at the "hands of the Jews". Jews are not a monoculture, and while there are Jewish people involved in this genocide, this is clearly at the hands of the current state of Israel (and more specifically at the hands of the IDF).
Conflicts have rules, and Israel could absolutely have a conflict with Hamas (whom, it should be noted, I do not support) without eradicating the civilian population in Gaza.
There are plenty of military conflicts around the world. And arguably many war crimes committed by all parties. What the IDF is doing in Gaza is uniquely terrible, absolutely targets civilians, and much of the violence and harm perpetrated is wholly unrelated to defeating Hamas.
