Phenome-wide analysis of diseases in relation to sleep traits

Aurornis

Interesting to see fibrosis and cirrhosis of the liver as one of the highest correlations. As noted, sleep disruption can alter some liver functions. However I wonder how much of this is a proxy for frequent alcohol consumption, which disrupts sleep.

Natsu

Being overweight can cause sleep apnea and fatty liver disease, so there may be some correlation due to that.

Lately I've just been posting who is funding studies posted on HN. Usually taxpayers via government foundations/institutes.

A lot of people on HN seem unaware of how innovative research is paid for and are even cheering the cuts in the US. China certainly isn't cutting research.

taurath

Cheers, understood. I think I assumed it was to call into question the results of the study. The US is definitely ceding the intellectual and international diplomacy realm to china

sointeresting

You wouldn't have posted this if the op had pointed out that the research had happened in the US. Please explain why.
