Any company operating in a country will abide by government rules. This is why they built the app with a federated protocol because third-party apps aren't restricted to the same rules as Bluesky and can read from the AT protocol directly. Saying "not yet" is fearmongering and ignoring that the system is working as expected.

You don't think its possible/likely a country would legislate the requirement of geolocation in some way shape or form for service providers?

"Currently, Bluesky doesn’t require any third-party apps to use its geographic moderation labelers, which would force the apps to geolocate their users and then apply the appropriate regional restrictions."

As long as most phones are locked to app stores, governments have absolute power over third-party apps too.
