This isn't just the state throwing a tantrum because they're embarrassed by their own incompetence. It's a warning to all immigrants that the state can do anything it wants to you, no matter how deranged, for no real reason at all.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t take the deal to go to costa rica, because he has no plan to stay in Uganda or Costa Rica after he’s deported. He will probably fly to a third country either way, so why would he take a deal to stay in jail longer?

His whole ordeal has been an outrage and a tragedy.
They’re punishing him because he’s living breathing evidence of their incompetence. They want him out of the picture.
I can only hope that the people in charge will see some legal consequences in their future.
