I learned about this reading Ishtar Rising by Robert Anton Wilson

the harvest season is indeed upon us with the passing of midsummer in the northern hemisphere. now is the time where light and life begin their descent into the underworld of death and darkness, to fully disappear from the earth and then fully return over the next few months.
